In November 1975, Roger Wilson moved with his family to the Austin area. In 1981, he founded Anderson Mill Church of the Nazarene in northwest Austin. Over time, the name was changed to Hill Country Nazarene Church.
In 1989 the church was given the opportunity to sell their property in northwest Austin to St. Thomas More Catholic Church, and purchased land in Cedar Park in response to God's call to reach the Cedar Park and Leander area. After meeting in a local elementary school for a year, the congregation began meeting in a new building located at 1750 Bagdad Road in Cedar Park.
The first service at this location was in April 1999. In January 2005, Hill Country embarked on a new journey, launched by the "40 Days of Purpose" campaign.
Currently, the ministering community known as Hill Country Nazarene Church, Led by Pastor Joe Bob Ellison who transitioned to Head Pastor in April 2010, is attempting to live out and balance God's five purposes of fellowship, discipleship, worship, ministry, and evangelism together. |
